Breasts usually droop because of hormonal changes, pregnancy or breast feeding. – They lose their shape, the skin is loose and the mammary gland decreases. But on the other hand there is a surgical solution to the problem which is called breast uplift. If there is enough mammary gland left, the operation involves only breast lifting, if there is not, the breast lifting surgery can be combined with breast augmentation with implant.

The operation lasts approximately two to three hours and is performed wtih general anaesthetic.
There are three common incision patterns:
1. Around the areola
2. Around the areola and vertically down from the areola to the breast crease
3. Around the areola, vertically down from the breast crease and horizontally along the breast crease

Your doctor might place stitches deep within your breasts to reshape your breast tissue and, if necessary, reduce the size of your areolae. The glands are remodelled, excess skin is removed and areolae are repositioned up in the centre of newly well-shaped breast. Doctor will remove excess breast skin and shift the nipples to higher positions. Then doctor will bring together the breast skin and close the incisions with stitches, surgical tape or skin adhesives.

After Surgery

The breast lift treatment requires two or three overnight stays at the clinic and a two or three week rest period.
After operation, breasts will be covered with gauze and a surgical support bra. Then you’ll wear a soft support bra.
It is not advisable to sleep on the side and also all movements involving lifting arms up should be avoided. Avoid sexual activity for at least one to two weeks after the breast lift. In the first two months after the operation, it is not recommended to go to a swimming pool as there is a high risk of acquiring infection.
